I had my housewarming date set for this coming Saturday, December 5th from 2pm to 4pm. I have had to postpone this event due to over 4 people having some form of discrepancy with their schedule. The new date is now Saturday, January 9th from 2pm to 4pm. The downside to this (as of now) is that the twins work on this day and their schedule is so sporadic there is no telling when they will be available to actually take part in the housewarming. I am keeping this date and everyone has been informed of the change after 2 more people at my job informed me of their not being able to make it. *sighs* I was truly looking forward to this; had the menu all planned out and everything. One of my coworkers was like, “You still gon’ make the potato salad right and bring that in?” I looked at her like she was crazy and said, “Um, no. The potato salad would have been for the housewarming and since we’re not having it until January, that’s when I’ll make it.” She looked defeated. LOL… Eh, I’d rather have it at a later date than to have had it and not have those four people here for the festivities.
I haven’t figured out if I want to invite my two cousins over or not. I mean, we’ve just reunited and I feel all sorts of obligation towards them, but I also feel like they had a life before I re-entered their worlds, so perhaps they’ll have something to do anyway. *shrugs* I’m certain my granduncle will definitely want me to give them a ring and see how they feel about attending, so I may do so just to keep from getting a phone call. Eh, we shall see. So as of today, the new date for the housewarming is January 9th, 2010. Tonight, I will put up my little Christmas Tree and bask in its semi-glory. After I eat dinner, then ice cream (for dessert) of course.

It’s almost Friday! I must say that I have truly looked forward to this weekend and it’s not because this week has been long or disastrous, it’s because I’m beginning to feel the laziness and slothful feeling that comes along as a combo package w/ cold or rainy weather. They are calling for rain and snow this coming Saturday and this means I will be cuddled up under my blanket on my couch, watching the college football games that will air Saturday afternoon and evening. A chick can definitely use all of the downtime that I will be provided. I am bone tired from this past weekend’s goings-on, add that to this work week and I am surely due for some rest. Here’s hoping each of you get it as well.
I’ve been wondering just how long it’ll be before I live again.
This Thanksgiving was THE BEST one in a long time for me. It was nice to have a few of my family members up to share it with me and I am truly blessed. My granduncle, aunt, and baby cousin were here and my younger cousin came over Thursday night to see her grandfather (my granduncle). Her arrival was pretty much a reuniting for she and I because I had not seen her in two years and was recently informed that she was living across the street from where I was for about 6 months. Everyone’s presence was such a beautiful thing to me and Jernee was in dog-heaven because she was getting spoiled at every end for the past few days. My aunt left $50.00 for me on my desk and when I inquired about it and if it were for me, she gave me the side eye like, “who else is it going to be for?” I appreciated this gesture for real b/c I am so used to just doing, doing, doing, and going completely overboard for my guests (which I did), I almost never get anything in return.
The joy that was within me while they were here is unspeakable. I am quite content in knowing that I have a few people who are willing to take the drive up and spend a holiday with me. Next, Operation get my mother and brothers up here is in full-force. I hope each of you have enjoyed your Thanksgiving day and that you are now enjoying your weekend. Below are some pictures of things|people that have made me smile this November.
As you can see folks, I have plenty to be thankful|happy about! Now, off to Edward McKay Used Books and More. You guys be safe and have fun this weekend! Loads of it~
I am actually in the middle of drying clothes right now as I type this to you guys. I have already washed all of the linens in my closet, the linens on my bed, Jernee’s crate items, and now my clothes are drying so that I can put them up and finally rest up for the night. I have already made the green beans for tomorrow and seasoned the fried chicken wingettes. Tomorrow morning I will get up sweep in front of my entrance-way, feed Jernee, walk her, bathe, then get my *COOK* on. I am expecting my family to arrive around 12 pm, so I will make certain I am in the kitchen promptly at 10:45 am. I have confirmed with each of them tonight and I must say that I am overwhelmed with joy because this is the first time any of my family members have come up to spend a holiday with me.
I spoke with my father today and he is actually considering coming up for Christmas and bringing my baby brother along w/ he, his wife, and my kid sister (we’ll see how this goes). Either way folks, I am going to enjoy this evening before my family’s arrival tomorrow for turkey day and I hope you guys have a Happy Thanksgiving. Eat loads of good food and laugh a while too.
Be safe, see you soon
I’ve been trying not to write about this; I’ve just been telling myself to block it out of my mind, but… This is so damn sad and it is eating away at my heart as I type this very entry to you guys. Shaniya Nicole Davis, 5 year old native of Fayetteville, NC was trafficked by her own mother to settle some sort of drug debt she had going on. At first Shaniya was reported missing by Antoinette Davis (the mother- if you want to call her this) and had been so for a week. After several searches, questionings of the suspects and parties involved, the body of this child has been found near Sanford, NC and the family, neighbors, and people of Fayetteville, NC are grieving deeply. The funeral for her is being held today. My heart goes out to the family and to the people of Fayetteville right now. Something so vile and malicious should not have to happen to a child; to anyone for that matter. How can you even call yourself a mother? How?
I am struggling with this; I am struggling to understand what kind of brainpower folks like this operate on. Not only had she brought Shaniya into this world, she also has a 7 year old son whom has been removed from the home (Thank GOD) and sources have revealed that she is pregnant again. There have been reports that she is isolated from other prisoners at this point and I say, place that no good, sorry excuse for the first three letters of the word mother into a prison cell with a cell-mate who has 2-3 children and is doing hard ass time and hasn’t seen them in 5+ years. I have no sympathy for someone who can raise their hand to their young, prostitute them, and expect something in monetary value in return. This breaks my heart and I just don’t know what else to say. *shakes head*

If you know me personally, then you know that my favorite NFL football team is the Indianapolis Colts. I love this team. For the last ten seasons, I have watched in awe as Peyton throws the football with such precision and perfect timing and I am always astounded at his ability to gauge just whom to throw it to and when. The boy is bad in uniform, you hear me? The fact that they are still unbeaten this season makes me even more ecstatic to be a follower and I expect nothing but perfection in the game today against the Baltimore Ravens. I doubt that I will be disappointed. They almost gave me a scare last week in the game vs the Patriots, but a chick managed to stay up and watch it in its entirety to sleepily view the win. I’m telling you right now, I don’t expect today’s game to be as exciting as the Colts vs the Patriots for I don’t think the Ravens can come with it up against the Colts, nor do I dare say that this game will be a complete blowout either. I’m just hoping they grab another win to add on to their record is all I’m saying. Go COLTS!
Have a happy Sunday folks… Take care and please be safe~
But, the following videos|songs are what I’m feeling right now and I don’t even know why…
1. 50 Cent featuring Ne-yo (when did Kelly Rowland become a video chick?)
2. Trey Songz (I Invented Sex)
3. Snoop Dog featuring the Dream
4. Jay-Z feat A. Keys Empire State of Mind (I don’t really like Jay-Z for reals…) The hook is bananas!
5. Drake (and’em) Forever
So, that’s my list and let me just tell you… I feel some kinda way about liking these songs, then I don’t. I wasn’t an avid radio listener at all for the past 6 years and now, I’m like… let me turn my damn radio on and what happened when I did??? I found some gems my peers may not approve of, but I’m damn sure blasting my speakers when every single song listed above comes on. A chick in love w/ that 50 Cent and Ne-yo drop for real, that is my ultimate shit… *sighs* I think I’m going to have to make some serious CD purchases (yes, I still listen to and purchase CDs) this Christmas…
~Curtains are hung and I feel completely secure|safe|happy in my new space.
